Oh what a joy
The other day while cleaning up my room… behind a box with sewing supply there was this Starbucks paper bag that I didn’t notice being there before. I was really convinced that I cleared all boxes since we moved in here in May but I guess I was wrong. The first peek promised something fabulous already but what I’ve found in the depth of this tiny paper bag made my day.

This is what I revealed: *5 different blocks of sticky notes * a notecase * a notepad * 2 different sets of stickers ALL from Anne Taintor ; * See for yourself. Go places. Anywhere Notebook * Love your crazy life. Anywhere Notebook * Create every day journal * Explore every day journal * Know Good Take Notes and * Today is the Day Take Notes – all from Compendium Inc.; a lovely notepad from Kurt Halsey (things to do – things done – things never to do again) and 2 sets of MOO mini cards that I’ve been looking for ages!

I could add this to 1000 awesome things – ” finding an unopened, forgotten box with great stuff after months of moving in the new place.” :-)
This was like a pre-christas gift for me. Especially the items from Compendium are really great and it’s always a joy using them. The books have quotes on each page and it’s always inspirational.

My first quilt – Part 4 – All is connected
Yay. I connected top, batting and the back. That wasn’t that easy, took me a while but finally they were all one. Fixed the pieces with extra long needles and was super excited to continue hand quilting the following day. I learned you need special yarn and since I don’t have any I went to a store near my house. They didn’t have any (though it’s a needlework store… and it’s the second time I went there not finding what I need). Now I have to wait until I have some spare time to drive back to the lovely store where I bought the fabric. But I’m really looking forward driving there as I need some brown fabric for the binding anyway. Saturday. Stay tuned :-)

Vintage Waffle Maker
I love my vintage waffle maker from the 60ies. I got him from an old lady my mother used to work for and he still works fabulous and makes the most delicious waffles. The design is timeless. :-)

My first quilt – Part 3 – Sewing and embroidery
After spending hours of cutting out the pieces I sew them all together. Not much of a problem actually even though the pieces were all uneven. So I just placed them together so that they at least look right and sew my day away. Took me 5 hours. This took all my concentration and thoughts that I totally forgot to eat. Anyway. This is what came out

Yeah.. today I learned that I’ve pressed the seams wrong. Don’t care. Nobody will see this :-)

Then I added some Kurt Halsey bird and fireflies iron-ons for later embroidery. The patterns come from Sublime Stitching. It’s a simple iron-on that you cut out before and place on the fabric. Press. Done.

The outcome after 2 hours

Sometime this week then I will handquilt the 3 pieces together. Stay tuned :-)

Quote of the week
Methinks it is a token of healthy and gentle characteristics, when women of high thoughts and accomplishments love to sew; especially as they are never more at home with their own hearts than while so occupied.
