happy serendipity on tour * spring 2012
last year i’ve been to 3 craft fairs: eintagsladen in darmstadt (in summer and winter) and stijl in mainz which i enjoyed immensly. i would have loved to join more but with this full-time-office-job i didn’t manage but i’ve learned a lot so this year i can sell on more fairs.
my first show will be february 4 + 5 Â in mainz. i really look forward to the show since i know the location and the people who come which makes it less scary. i was very anxious selling 2 days in a row last year.
the second show is march 11 in darmstadt and called schnick schnack shopping. there i will meet dear manuela, nicole and miss magnetica and i’d be happy to meet YOU too. if you’re around please stop by and say hello. i’d love to have you around this nice event with so many great handmade products.
i applied for 2 more shows but didn’t receive feedback yet. but anyhow, i plan to go to many many shows more this year. stay tuned for more info.

renew fabrics screen-printing workshop

************************************
hello my dears. elisabetta of renew fabrics informed me she will be hosting a screen-printing workshop in february. 6 participants will learn all about this special printing technique, they can bring their own fabric and should think of a design they want to print. the workshop will be held in english though you can ask things in german, french and italian as well. the course will be very international.
the workshop is especially for the ones who have no experience in screen-printing. everything will be explained thoroughly. i wish we had such a course in frankfurt since i still don’t understand this technique and would love to see it in person how the magic works.
if you’re around berlin and would like to participate you can sign-up on elisabetta’s page and i wish you loads of fun!

on small business and sustainability
this past weekend i’ve spend in berlin at the hello etsy conference and i am positively overwhelmed, deeply grateful and highly motivated. i’m not sure i will find the right words in this post that will pay this event justice i can only say it was mindblowing. why? i’ve heard inspiring stories, got to know amazing people, i voluntarily sat in a presentation about project management on a sunday at 9:30 am because i longed to learn more and to suck in all information i could get.
i’ve sewn another bag at marimekko, i was close to chad dickerson (etsy ceo), i ate a wonderpot frozen yoghurt…
… etsy and other sponsors pampered us with giveaways (and delicious organic food and drinks) and i wrote weird notes to myself, and i’ve met jam boy who signed a book for me with a personal note…
… i’ve met natalie chanin who impressed me so much that when i told her that i had to cry and chad held a presentation i will never forget…
… people crafted everywhere and i’ve met fascinating people and learned new technologies (go over the images with your mouse and see what happens)…
… and the location ewerk was just beautiful and had a great vibe.
i’m sure this event changed all of our minds, made us happy and urged us to work hard so we can live our dreams and do what we love.
a big compliment goes to the hello etsy team for the fantastic organisation of this event and for choosing such inspiring souls. in the future i will not miss any conference since i cannot remember anything that motivated me more.
YAY!!
want to know more?
here you can watch all of the presentations as video.

it’s carnival. again…
it’s carnival time. again. and i can’t wait for tomorrow when it’s all over again.
no. it’s not fun. at least not for me. carnival here in germany – especially here in this area – does nothing for me but trying to avoid the parades, the drunk people on the streets and the costume parties with more drunk people and silly music. if it was warmer these days maybe. like in rio (scroll down to see me in the sambadrome)! it’s weird because i actually like costumes and dressing up as another character every once in a while. but not just because it’s carnival.
joker – mask – captain – wonder woman
maybe when i have kids i will go to a parade. mom and kid in the same costumes. that would be nice. as peter pan and tinkerbell. or batman and robin. or micky and minnie mouse. little ones are adorable in costumes. don’t you think?
snow white – owl – dog – batman – shark – cat
but until then i will avoid all things carnival and just sleep through the weekend.

It was a good day
Last weekend we’ve finally been to the Oktoberfest in Munich. All day on the way there I was extremely excited (maybe scared, too) and when M said we have to eat at Burger King before meeting everyone at the Schützenfestzelt I knew it was going to be one of those days…
The Wiesn was FULL. People everywhere. Inside the tents, outside on the streets. Drunk people. Incredible. Even I was expecting it it was hard to believe. There were many many fun rides like this merry-go-round up in the sky and a free-fall tower (which we rode on Saturday and that made my heart miss several beats).
The tents are really nice outside. The Spatenbräu had moving figurines roast a pig. Very nice.
And here.. in the middle of the day drunk people lying everywhere taking a nap. But honestly… I liked that better than having them on the street being rude to others.
Our tent was the Schützenfestzelt that was almost full when we arrived.
Right in front of the Bavaria statue.
The starter menu.
And me with my first Mass with one of my Mass-Bands that I’ve sold in September. Throughout the night I drank 3 Mass. I still can’t believe that. After dinner we all stood on the benches and danced and sang to the songs the band played. Gosh that was FUN.
Since I’m so tiny and people were all so tall I wasn’t able to make such great pictures. I only could take pictures of things that were above me. Which made me realize they had very nice signs leading to the public restrooms.
Being short is not always a disadvantage I guess :-)
That was our Wiesn experience. I would go there again but ONLY if we had a reservation for a table. The place is just too packed and I couldn’t stand in the middle of the tent all night doing nothing but avoid other people’s elbows. But overall it was great and fun and another check on something I haven’t done before.
