IF I….

.. HAD THE GUTS…. my arms would be decorated some way like this:

Ok.. guts is the wrong word. Being almost 30 now I will ignore my mother’s well meant advice and just go for it. If I had decided for an artist yet I would be ready to go but I guess that will have to wait until winter. Getting tattooed in summer is a bad idea anyway. You can’t shower properly and the plastic foil is nasty, too. Owning 5 tattoos already this will be the first bigger project starting in the 30. year of my life. I consider myself old enough to decide that this is something I really want to do.

I don’t know why I’m so into inked skin but it really fascinates me. It’s an extreme way of showing personality, a way of being different, I have to admit that I love the sound of the needle, yes it can be addicting. I neither have the urge to show off my personality nor I’m not so much different from any other ordinary girl I just really like this art and if it’s properly done it’s just as pretty as an evening robe.

And what an eye candy it can be….

I really would love to get tattooed by Kat von D (1st and 2nd picture). She is so damn talented and makes the most brilliant tattoos I’ve ever seen. A guy at my work was inked by her and I’ve never seen such stunning work. I’d even travel all the way to LA for that and save all my money to get it done… *sigh*

Yep – I’m totally aware of what society might say. What actually scares the shit outta me is my mom. If I had the guts I already would have gotten more done already but…I’m a good girl, I’ve been to a christian girl’s school for many years, I respect my parents, I understand their doubts, I know my skin will look different when I’m 80 but with all that on my mind this is still the way how I want to express myself because that’s me. No worries, though I really like all those heavily tattooed girls here this is not what I’m aiming for. Just one arm. 3/4 of an arm. And I’m tiny so that’ll not be much :-)

What would you do if you had the guts?! Anything you’re planning on doing but someone or something is holding you back? I’d love to hear your story!

There are some great artists out there! I got the top part of my arm done with a Japanese laughing Buddha and people ask me all the time who did it. If you see someone with tattoos that you like, just ask them. I’m glad to promote my artist’s work.

Natalie, you are so right! The other day I saw a guy with an incredible tattoo on his whole arm and guess what.. I was too shy to ask him. I was so in awe and couldn’t stop looking but somehow I couldn’t make it. Totally unnormal for me to be shy :-) Today I’ve checked out some links and this weekend I’ve been chatting with a colleague and we’ll go to a shop this week to see if they can help me. It’s such a big thing to choose an artist.
Who did yours? Does he have a website? Just curious.

I had mine done by Mike Suarez. He was at True Tattoo in Los Angeles, Ca, but I think he left that shop. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i238/nattynat7/animals328.jpg there’s a link to a good pic of Mr. Buddha.
I also have a cousin that is in the tattoo industry worldwide. I could see if she knows of any good artists in your neck of the woods. Just let me know!
