wood coasters
today i want to share a tutorial with you that was published already in march on going home to roost because i actually messed up the project for today. but in case you missed it earlier this year and still need a nice table decoration for thanksgiving you might like this.
heute möchte ich euch ein tutorial zeigen, das ich im märz schon mal bei going home to roost gezeigt habe. denn leider ist mein projekt für heute sehr missglückt und so musste ich kurzfristig umplanen. aber vielleicht habt ihr es ja damals nicht gesehen und braucht für den winter noch schöne rustikale untersetzer oder einen schönen wandschmuck?
now it’s all about wood coasters that you can use as wall art as well.
materials needed – man nehme
- slices of birch tree (available in craft stores or flower shops, I found these at dawanda) – holzscheiben; diese hier sind aus birke, es eignet sich aber auch jedes andere holz. meine kamen von dawanda
- acrylic paint or crayons or sharpies – acrylfarben, bunt- oder filzstifte
- printout of artwork – eine kopie des designs
- tracing paper – kopierpapier
trace the artwork on the wood by laying the tracing paper between the draft and the wood. use a pencil to draw the lines. der erste schritt ist das abpausen der vorlage auf das holz. das geht super mit einem kuli
after tracing everything it will look like this. – wenn die vorlage auf dem holz ist, sieht das ungefähr so aus
now you can start to paint. for some I drew a black outline with a black sharpie before painting but that’s totally up to you. jetzt kommt der schöne part des ausmalens. ich habe bei einigen motiven eine schwarze outline gezeichnet. ist geschmacksache.
after the paint is dry you can add a coat of spray varnish to protect the paint. i didn’t and they still look lovely. wenn die farbe trocken ist, kann man eine schicht sprühlack machen. habe ich nicht und bis heute hält alles bombig.
one slice ended up on the wall. ein scheibchen ist als deko an der wand gelandet. schlicht aber schön.

Oh, wow, die sind ja toll. Ich brauch dringend Baumscheiben. Spätestens für artig & fein Weihnachten 2012. Is mal vorgemerkt :) Danke nochmal für die SMS. Hab mich tierisch gefreut.
